Deer Creek Hills
May 18, 2019
Mats Jansson
Event Director and Course Setter
After a rainout (due to road conditions) in April, we finally got back to beautiful Deer Creek Hills on Saturday May 18. What could have been a very hot day in a normal year, ended up feeling more like February than May. Rain keeps haunting us at this location, but that didn't keep hardy souls from trying their best at seven different courses set by Mats Jansson in an area mostly different from the 2018 two-day meet (part of California Orienteering Week).
A big THANK YOU, to NAV-X Map Adventures, who stepped in to cover the event-day volunteer roles.
A huge thanks also to the following people (in no particular order) without whom this event would not have been possible:
- Vicki Woolworth - Event Setup, Breakdown, Course Pickup, Starts
- Bill Cusworth - Registration, Event Setup, Check-in, Map Updates, Course Pickup, Starts
- Jennifer Kerr - Beginner Clinic and GCO Website
- Dwight Freund - Course Vetting and Setting
- Stephen Tarry - Course Consultant

- Mats Jansson - Course Design & Setting, Event Setup & Breakdown, Starts

Jay Hann of Western Race Services provided ePunch and live results services. We also had great support from Marshall Gorman at the Sacramento Valley Conservancy. They do great work in the region - consider donating or volunteering.
Lastly, thanks to everyone who came out to our first event of 2019! It was great to see so many familiar faces, as well as new ones. Our fall season starts in September in Orangevale Community Park on Oct. 5.
