Granite Bay

The park, part of Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, has a mixture of sandy beaches and oak-studded hills with scattered rock outcroppings. It also has lots of trails, as it is very popular with mountain bikers and equestrians.

The park's trails link north to Auburn and south to Folsom and the American River Parkway. It's a lovely park with great views of the lake and the mountains. It sits slightly higher than Sacramento, so don't be deterred if it's foggy in the valley; it frequently is beautiful at the lake.

Our Granite Bay map was quite old and problematic, but no longer! We have a brand-new map. Read about its creation and its creators here.

Directions: Take Interstate 80 to Roseville and exit at Douglas Boulevard. Go east for about six miles; the road takes you right into the park. Or you can take Hazel-Sierra College Boulevard or Auburn-Folsom Road north to Douglas and turn right. There is a $12 park entry fee.
