Rossmoor Bar
The park features vestiges of Sacramento's gold mining past, offering the competitor highly technical terrain full of pits and tailings piles. Climb is minimal, but advanced and intermediate runners will be challenged by the numerous piles of loose rocks and soft sandy river channels exposed when the river is below flood stages.
Directions: From Highway 50 east of downtown Sacramento, take Sunrise Boulevard north (crossing back over the highway) to Rancho Cordova. Proceed to Coloma Road and turn west (left). Follow Coloma until reaching El Manto (sometimes spelled Elmanto) Drive. Turn right and follow it to the park entrance. Pay the $5 entry fee (use envelopes provided if the kiosk is not staffed). Look for orange-and-white orienteering signs. The parking area is on the right, just past the kiosk.
