Lower Sunrise

Lower Sunrise is on the south bank of the American River, along the American River Parkway in Rancho Cordova. This small, narrow area was mapped along with Rossmoor Bar, which adjoins it downstream to the west, and Sacramento Bar, which is across the river via Jim's Bridge for pedestrians and bikes.

There is a spacious parking lot (county parking fee is $5), a new restroom and a picnic area.

Directions: From the south, west or east, take Highway 50 to Sunrise Boulevard. Go north and look for the River Access turnoff on the right before crossing the river. Past the entry kiosk (pay the fee), turn left and go under Sunrise to the parking lot. From the north, take Sunrise over the river and look for the turnoff on the left.
